In our next installment of top 10 books recommended by JPS authors, Rabbi Elliot Dorff looks at books in his field of specialty: Jewish ethics. Rabbi Dorff is an expert in the field of bioethics, and has lent his expertise to many Jewish and national organizations. He now serves as Chair of the Conservative Movement’s Committee on Jewish Law and Standards, and has chaired the Academy of Jewish Philosophy, the Jewish Law Association, and the Society of Jewish Ethics. Rabbi Dorff is a member of the American Association for the Advancement of Science’s Dialogue on Science, Ethics, and Religion Advisory Committee, and is a member of the Ethics Committee charged with establishing the moral norms that govern stem cell research in the State of California. He is currently Rector and Distinguished Professor of Philosophy at the American Jewish University of Los Angeles, and is the author of 16 books, including four published by the Jewish Publication Society.
